EV Research Inc, deeply concerned with the consistent exploitations of vulnerable groups in resource poor countries, is committed to tackling global inequalities (social, health, legal, educational, and information technology) by conducting highly ethical evidence-based research and development projects aim at reducing the 10/90 gap. A research done by the Global Forum for Health Research found out that only ten per cent of worldwide expenditure on health research and development is devoted to the problems that primarily affect the poorest 90 per cent of the world's population.

Brief History
EV Research Inc, a Canadian-based company, was founded in May 2008 by Veronica P. Fynn and Emmanuel Fynn. Motivated by their past experiences as war children, internally displaced persons, and refugees from Liberia, they decided to embark on establishing a company that is solely committed to reducing the plight of vulnerable people, especially women and children caught up in violent conflicts. Their first-hand experiences offer them a unique expertise in R & D excellence for restoring human rights and dignity to vulnerable people.

Mission
We MUST utilize high-quality, ethically sound, evidence-based research to drive local and international laws and policies relatable to reducing global inequalities amongst vulnerable communities.

Vision
Our vision is to improve the lives of vulnerable people, especially women and children, and to build a new generation of conscientious and compassionate people whose primary ambition is to: Think, Learn and Contribute (TLC) to societal change.

Multi-disciplinary Approach: Our research and development programs focus on vulnerable populations in resource poor communities. We adopt human rights and non-discriminatory approaches to research that are: multi-dimensional, comprehensive, holistic, inclusive of vulnerable people, participatory, diverse and respectful.

Clientele includes international development agencies, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, private sectors, academic institutions, researchers, legal institutions, and individuals.

EV Research Inc is a privately owned research company that is independent of any particular religious, political, economic or social ideology. We are dedicated to impartiality and fairness to ensure that vulnerable people attain high quality of life.



Veronica Fynn
CEO & Co-Founder, CANADA

Veronica Fynn holds a BSc (Ghana), BA (UBC), MPH (Nottingham), LLM (York), and has completed two years of her PhD in Law. She is the co-Founder and CEO of EV Research Inc., where she works to reduce the 10/90 research and development gap between resource poor and advance countries. A specialist in interdisciplinary learning with emphasis on international law, public health, and social justice, Veronica has conducted research studies and consulted on several projects related to forced migration, sexual & gender-based violence, the rule of law, human rights and governance projects in at least a dozen countries in Africa, Europe, Euro-Asia and North America. She is the principal researcher for the UBC Africa Census, 2011: a campus-wide research assessing the State of Africa at the University of British Columbia for policy review purposes. Come January 2012, she will be teaching Public Health Law and Global Health Law with UBC’s Department of Medicine and the School of Population and Public Health respectively. She currently works with the Department of Family Practice at UBC as a research consultant. She is also collaborating with Cameron Whitehead, a PhD Candidate in History at UBC on the Omar Khadr Book Project.

Emmanuel Fynn
Co-Founder & Director, Information Technology and Communication Services, USA

Emmanuel Fynn holds a Diploma in Data-based Administration, NIIT (2004); an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Network Security, Heald College (2008) and a BSc in Information Systems Security, ITT Technical Institute, (2011). Emmanuel brings over 3 years of IT and Network Securities experience to EV Research. As a Technical Support Representative for Telvista Inc, Dallas, TX he was responsible for managing internet technical support for clients, providing support for all Microsoft windows platforms including Win 9X, Win ME, Win NT/2000, Win XP in addition to Apple McIntosh Operating Systems like OSX and Tiger; implementing TCP/IP, domain hosting and LAN Concepts and trouble-shooting and configuring DSL services by setting up email addresses using multiple web browsers. He also configured modems, Westell wire speed 2200, 327W Versalink and Linksys routers for both. He currently works with Apple computers in California, USA.

Michael L. Perlin (Professor of Law), Director, International Mental Disability Law Reform Project & Director, Online Mental Disability Law Program, New York Law School, USA

Bio:
Michael L. Perlin is Professor of Law at New York Law School, director of the Online Mental Disability Law Program, and director of the International Mental Disability Law Reform Project of the law school's Justice Action Center. He holds teaching appointments as Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Law at the University of Rochester Medical Center and at New York University School of Medicine. He is a former Director of the Division of Mental Health Advocacy in the New Jersey Department of the Public Advocate, and the former Deputy Public Defender in charge of the Mercer County Trenton New Jersey Office of the Public Defender. Professor Perlin now serves on the Board of Advisors of Mental Disabilities Rights International, and on the Board of Directors of the International Academy of Law and Mental Health. In conjunction with Mental Disability Rights International, a Washington, D.C.-based human rights advocacy organization, he has presented mental disability law training workshops in Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, and Uruguay. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the European University Institute-Law in Florence, Italy, a Visiting Professor at Abo Akademi University/Turku University Law School in Turku, Finland, and a Visiting Scholar at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. Most recently, he was a Fulbright Senior Specialist at the University of Haifa Faculty of Law, in Haifa, Israel. Previously, Professor Perlin was an Adjunct Professor of Law and Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno, California, the Pfizer Distinguished Visiting Professor at Wright State University School of Medicine, and the Ida Beem Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the University at Iowa Law School and Medical College. His hobbies include the clarinet, freshwater fishing and the music of Bob Dylan.

Shafik Dharamsi, Associate Director, UBC Centre for International Health The University of British Columbia, CANADA

Bio: Dr. Shafik Dharamsi is Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine, and Associate Director of the Centre for International Health at the University of British Columbia. Prior to coming to UBC he worked with the Aga Khan Development Network implementing an extensive health promotion and early-childhood development initiative in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda (2000-2004). His work has been featured on a Canadian television documentary series, The Global Villagers. In 2007, he was nominated for the UBC Killam Teaching Prize. In 2008, he received the Peter Wall for Advanced Studies Early Career Scholar Award. His research focuses on how health professions education can best prepare future practitioners to make judgments that are not only technically sound but also ethically and socially responsible.

Gloria Onyeoziri-Miller, Associate Professor, Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies, University of British Columbia, CANADA

Bio: Gloria Nne Onyeoziri was born in Nkpa, in what is now Abia State of Nigeria. Delayed by a progressive loss of sight at the end of secondary school, she continued her studies at the Alvan Ikokwu College of Education, l’Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal, the University of Jos and the University of Toronto where she completed a Ph.D. in 1989  with a thesis on the Martiniquan poet Aimé Césaire. A Killam Post-Doctoral Fellow at Dalhousie University in 1990, she came to the University of British Columbia in 1994. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on African and Caribbean literatures and is Co-Adviser of the Minor in African Studies. In addition to a book (La Parole poétique d’Aimé Césaire: essai de semantique littéraire), she has published over thirty articles on African and Caribbean authors, semantics, African women’s writing and disability studies. She recently completed a book entitled “Shaken Wisdom: Irony and Meaning in African Literary Discourse” which is presently under review.


Michael Flowers, President, Flowers School of Technology and Management, UK & GERMANY

Bio: Michael Flowers is the President of the Flowers School of Technology and Management and a Systems Engineer at a German engineering company, KLK Stuttgart GmbH. Currently carrying out a doctorate research in Global Manufacturing systems, Flowers holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Ghana and a MSc in Systems Engineering from Brunel University, United Kingdom. He's a member of the UK-based  Institution of Engineering and Technology. A sought-after consultant in human capital development, innovation and technology, Michael Flowers is an inventor, educator, speaker and a writer. His interests include evolving engineering concepts that help alleviate potential developmental problems confronting developing countries. His past times are creative writing, running 400M & sprinting 200M and singing.

Daniel Attuquayefio, Associate Professor of Zoology & Coordinator of the Environmental Science Postgraduate Programme of the Faculty of Science, University of Ghana, GHANA

Bio: Daniel Attuquayefio is an Associate Professor of Zoology specializing in vertebrate biology, animal behavior and conservation biology. He has over 25 years' experience in university teaching and field research. Professor Attuquayefio had his tertiary education in Ghana (BSc Zoology, University of Ghana, 1979), Scotland (MSc Zoology, University of Aberdeen, 1984), and Canada (PhD Zoology, University of Guelph, 1995). He has undertaken several extension activities mostly in the areas of Education, Research, Consultancy and Environmental Conservation Awareness. He is a former Head of the Department of Zoology, University of Ghana (2001-2005) as well as a former Executive Secretary of the Volta Basin Research Project, University of Ghana (1999-2003). He is currently the Coordinator of the Environmental Science Postgraduate Programme of the Faculty of Science, University of Ghana, as well as Coordinator of the Regional Water Virtual Learning Centre of the United Nations University- International Network of Water and Environmental Health (UNU-INWEH) with Headquarters in Canada. He has served as a Resource Person and Consultant (as expert on conservation biology) at workshops and in environmental projects commissioned by international and national governmental and non-governmental organizations including the UNDP and World Bank. He has published widely in reputed local and international journals, particularly in the areas of Environmental and Biodiversity Conservation, and was recently honoured by the University of Ghana with the Best Teacher Award for the Sciences. His hobbies include playing word games (he is somewhat of a crossword and scrabble addict), watching and playing soccer and volleyball, and listening to music. He has excellent proficiency in both written and spoken English as well as a fair working knowledge of French.

Faith Muhlenburg Cooper, W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute, National Medical Association, USA

Brief Bio: Faith A. Muhlenburg, MPA is the Project Director and Operations Director for the W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute of the National Medical Association (NMA). Prior to joining the Cobb Institute, she worked for AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical in which she supported a new initiative to address health disparities in minority communities in the Washington DC Area.  She was instrumental in the development of a youth initiative (Youth Ambassadors Academy) designed to empower and equip African American youth with the tools necessary to tackle social ills such as  HIV/AIDS, STDs, obesity, high incarceration, low educational attainment and other issues that disproportionately affect minority youth population. She enjoys working in underprivileged communities and makes every to support programs that focus on this population. Ms. Muhlenburg is a co-founder of Liberian Initiative for Social Advancement (LISA), an organization founded to support underprivileged children, especially Liberian refugees in Ghana, West Africa. From 2002-2005, she led a mission project to Buduburam Refugee Camp in Accra, Ghana which provided school supplies to more than 500 children. She has held several leadership roles within the Nu Psi Chapter of DST including President from 2000-2001. A native of Liberia, West Africa, Ms. Muhlenburg graduated with honors from Radford University with a dual bachelor’s of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Spanish.  She completed an extensive study abroad program in Madrid Spain where she received her BA in Spanish language.  She later received her Master’s of Public Administration from George Mason University with a focus in Health Administration and Management. Subsequently following, she completed a an internship in Health Services and Disaster Planning for developing countries at the PAN American Health Organization (PAHO) a division of World Health Organization. She plans to pursue a PhD in public health administration with specialization in global health. Weblink


Ama Ashira, Teaching Assistant, Christ the King International School, Accra, GHANA

Brief Bio: Ama works in a field of International Relations with emphasis on diplomacy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Linguistics and a Diploma in French from the University of Benin.  She brings to EV Research her multi-lingual expertise and education in French, forensic linguistics as well as high quality office managerial skills. She enjoys working as part of a team.
